What is Always Be Recruiting?

And should you be doing it?

Reduce the panic (and prepare for poaching). Shift from reactive mode to Always Be Recruiting* (ABR).

If you’re tired of going into panic mode while running your agency, this might be for you.

Lots of things can cause panic: losing a client, losing a top client handler to a competitor, learning your landlord wants to increase the rent. Although there are often red flags, many of these situations are unavoidable.

Beyond choosing to be a good leader that treats people with respect and pays people fairly, one solution is continuous recruiting. AKA: ABR. It’s a mindset and it takes practice. You’ll always be on the lookout for potential hires, so you have them lined up before you need them.

What happens when you aren’t continuously recruiting? Your clients expect you to start soon (or immediately) yet you don’t have the people to do the work.

When we do this, we’re stuck doing the work ourselves, frantically hiring someone we don’t know well, or both.

These scenarios rarely end well.

Now, I’m not saying to pre-emptively hire salaried people in the hopes that a deal will close. That’s not clever business. But it is clever to be prepared, that’s where ABR comes in.

If you need to know about the conditions and key steps of ABR – please reach out.
